Cheer Zones Information

We want the 2010 UnitedHealthcare NC Marathon to be FUN for both runners and spectators. So, we are creating special CHEER ZONES where groups can dress up and go crazy as the runners go by. Cheer Zones groups will be judged and prizes (donations to the charity of your choice) will be awarded to the top three Cheer Zones. Cheer Zones will be judged on the following criteria:

• Creativity
• Enthusiasm
• Use of Theme

Play your favorite music, make banners and signs, create a unique theme…do whatever you can to make it fun and exciting for both your cheer group and the runners! Cheer Zones must be registered to be eligible for prizes, so sign up your group today!

2010 Cheer Zones

The 2010 Cheer Zones are gearing up!

DATE:  March 20, 2010

TIME:  8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (some locations will end earlier after last runner passes by)

LOCATIONS:

All 14 Water Stations along course are designated Cheer Zones as well as the following suggested locations:

1. Hill on Squire Davis Road – Between Mile Markers 13 & 14
2. Old Winston Road – Approximately Mile 20
3. Between Mile 23 & 24 at Immaculate Heart of Mary School
4. Mile 25 – On Kivett Drive
5. Between Mile 9 &10 – Near Johnson Street Park
6. On 5K course – Ferndale Junior High School Area

PRIZES:

• First Place Prize:  $500 Donation -
  to the charity of your choice
• Second Place Prize:  $250 Donation -
  to the charity of your choice
• Third Place Prize:  $100 Donation -
  to the charity of your choice
